“Hey, aren’t you the seminar lady from the casino?”
It took me a minute to realize the employee behind the convenience store register was looking at me when he asked this question, but then I realized he was referring to the quarterly trainings we provide for employees of Quapaw Nation regarding human trafficking awareness.
I smiled and nodded, unsure of where this conversation might lead, but this young man was proud to let me know their staff stocked our anti-trafficking chapsticks with a phone number for our 24-hour helpline in every cash register so that they can be given to anyone they encounter who may be vulnerable to exploitation or trafficking.
“We did what you asked – we are ready to ‘see something, say something’ and make a difference for even one person needing help.”
Sometimes we aren’t sure if the seeds we sow, whether through our education or client services, will actually take root and make an impact in our community. Similarly to whispering the gospel to those around us, we never know when God’s truth, shared in love, will be watered and grow so that someone in despair will know there is a loving Father waiting with a path to eternal freedom.
Thanks to your financial gifts, we are able to provide advocacy services and material support to those trapped in the web of sexual exploitation and human trafficking right here in our very own backyard. We are also privileged to provide awareness trainings throughout our community and in our local schools. Through our medical services, we are given access to the hearts of those who have often never disclosed the traumas of exploitation from their past.
Be it a voiceless victim in the womb or a silenced victim on the streets, it is because of God’s hope and healing, along with your support, that we can provide safety pathways, both physically and spiritually, to more than 4,200 individuals every year.
