Kenzie* stepped onto the Choices Medical mobile unit, which was conveniently parked right outside of a local women’s shelter. She had been struggling with abuse and addiction issues for a while but was finally on a path towards rehabilitation and wanted to move forward with no worries of infections from her past decisions and abuse.
The nurse who welcomed Kenzie onto the mobile unit remembered her from a previous pregnancy appointment she had at our Joplin clinic. When this nurse mentioned the previous appointment and showed Kenzie the saved ultrasound images, she burst into tears, stating, “Thank you so much! I had lost of my ultrasound pictures years ago and this is so special to me.”
The nurse was able to give Kenzie copies of the ultrasound images – an extra special gift since she had recently been reunited with her daughter – and provide the STD testing she had requested. The appointment ended with the nurse’s encouragement of her healthier choices and prayer for her new path in life.
Because of donations from partners like you, our medical mobile unit can travel to the women (and men) who are unable to reach our main clinic. Our team is able to provide holistic medical services that address not just the physical, but also the emotional and spiritual needs, of individuals in our town and neighboring communities.
