Jesus gave us two great commands. The first is to love God, and the second is to love our neighbor. Simple, but not always easy.

To illustrate the command to “love your neighbor,” Jesus told the story of “The Good Samaritan.” We know it well. A man sees an unknown neighbor in dire distress who has been beaten and robbed. Unlike others in the neighborhood who chose not to respond, the Samaritan man dresses the wounds and then provides housing for the duration of the healing period. It’s a lesson of love that still touches our hearts today.

A question some might ask is, “Who are the Good Samaritans in our community today?” There are probably many great examples, but one which came to our minds is . . . you.

Like the Good Samaritan, you don’t know the neighbors who walk through LifeChoices’ doors. They come with wounds we often can’t see, hurts which are often more painful than we can imagine. You have no idea who these people are—you’ve never seen them—yet you choose to be their Good Samaritan. Your gifts help as these emotional wounds are dressed. You provide so our new neighbor has every opportunity to take a breath, heal, and move forward with their life.

Thank you for giving. Thank you for loving your neighbor.
